HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUS WASTE

Household hazardous wastes are any materials that may cause a human or environmental hazard when disposed of improperly. These wastes can cause serious threats to humans, wildlife, and the environment.  Hazardous waste can be one or more of the following: toxic, flammable, corrosive, and reactive.  We encourage you to consider non-toxic alternatives for some of the products you use.

  • Auto and household batteries
  • Motor oil
  • Paint
  • Anti-freeze
  • Fluorescent bulbs

Unacceptable Items:

  • Radioactives
  • Explosives
  • Ammunition
  • Smoke detectors

  • Polishes & cleaning products
  • Oven cleaners
  • Drain openers
  • Kerosene & lighter fluids
  • Unwanted medications (no controlled substances — contact your pharmacist if you are unsure if your medication is a controlled substance)
  • Sharps/syringes
  • Cosmetics, including perfume and nail polish
  • Fluorescent bulbs/tubes
  • Rechargeable or alkaline batteries
  • Mercury containing items (thermometers, thermostats, etc.)

GARDEN / LANDSCAPE

  • Fungicides
  • Insecticides
  • Herbicides
  • Pool chemicals

GARAGE / WORKSHOP

  • Latex & oil-based paints
  • Paint thinner & strippers
  • Wood preservatives
  • Grease & rust solvents
  • Wood & metal cleaners
