Recovering oil is extremely important, since it clogs our City’s water systems and can pose a threat to piping. It is illegal to discard used oil and filters; they must be taken to a collection center or collected through Vallejo’s curbside used oil and filter collection service.
Curbside
Residential customers can place used motor oil next to their carts for pickup on collection day. Oil jugs are provided to customers free of charge by Recology Vallejo. Call 707-552-3100 to request oil containers.
Drop Off
Limited quantities of motor oil can be dropped off at the Recology Vallejo-American Canyon Recycling Facility.
How-to:
Thoroughly drain filters before placing in the oil filter bag. Then hang the bag from the neck of your used oil jug and place next to your garbage container on collection day. Up to two gallons of used oil may be recycled every week. A new oil jug and/or filter bag will be left at the curb for your next oil change.
