E-WASTE (AKA ANYTHING WITH A PLUG)

Before disposing of your electronic equipment (anything with a plug), consider donating or selling it to someone who can still use it. If the item cannot be repaired, you should recycle it. The City of Vallejo has several options available to residents looking to recycling their e-waste.

Electronic and universal waste, such as fluorescent tubes and consumer batteries, are prohibited from the trash. These wastes contain a variety of toxic components like lead, cadmium and mercury, arsenic and flame retardants, and when dumped in a landfill, these materials can contaminate the soil and ground water, thus impacting surrounding areas.

Examples of electronic waste include: microwaves, T.V.’s, computer monitors and towers, cell phones, ipods, DVD players, stereos, etc.
